Is It Worth It? Living The Spiritual Life

Is it worth it? Is living a spiritual life worth it? Really living the talk? Really walking the walk? Is it better to just settle for a that in between place where people don't really know what you are about?

At some point, YOU have to decide what YOU want YOUR life to be about. Really about. There comes a time when you ask yourself, is there something more? What others perceive and think of you, no longer matters when you get to this place in life. The real question of where you stand in YOUR truth becomes para mount. It really comes down to are you happy enough? Do you feel enough joy? Enough love?

I was asked recently, why do I put myself 'out there' with sharing my truths, my beliefs. Why do I stop and share with people? They said, "your life is busy enough". They asked, "is it worth it?". My only response, yes.  Yes, it is worth it. Yes for every moment given, for every moment shared ten thousand are returned.

They said, "sometimes wouldn't it just be easier to walk by?" My only response, perhaps it would be easier. Perhaps it would be easier to simply say it is not my problem. But have you ever felt alone? Have you ever felt like even the silence is louder than the screams? Have you ever wondered if anyone even cares if you are alive or dead? Was that easy? Have you ever felt like you were standing in the middle of a room with people all around and no one even saw you, let alone heard you? If you have ever felt this way, what shifted your moment? A hello, someone smiling at you, or perhaps offering to listen? What if they said it would be easier to focus on my life than smile at you?

To see a smile on a face that has not had a reason to smile, to have someone feel safe enough to open their heart and share their fears, hurts, sorrows with you, to have someone step back into life because you paused a moment to invite them - yeah its worth it. To never feel alone because a spirit fills your soul with so much love and gratitude it spills over - yeah its worth it. To see someone from 5 years ago who wanted to end it, take their life, because no one cared now out in the world truly living and having dreams for the next 5 years - yeah its worth it. To get a call because a dream came true and they just had to share it with someone and they picked you to share it with - yeah its worth it. To feel the depth of pain from a loved one when they just lost the love of their life and to be present to comfort them with the gift of presence - yeah its worth it.

There comes a time in every person's life when YOU need to decide how you want your life to be defined. I want my life to be defined by my actions not my words. I make the choice to walk a spiritual path. It does not have to be your choice - not asking you too. But if you ask me is it worth it - yes.
