Facebook-Born “Awesome Women Hub” Launches Nationwide Tour to Tap Members’

The Awesome Women Hub, with a force of over 14,000 active members that started as a Facebook page only a year ago, is kicking off a nationwide tour that will bring women together from the virtual community for two days of inspiration and creative action. It will begin with a globally-focused “RE-Think Tank” and culminate in a collaboratively created music video to be shared virally. Their first video received 10,000 views in 15 days and one new video is planned for each tour stop.

The tour, the brainchild of Awesome Women Hub Founder Robin Rice, was a natural next step for the Facebook-born organization- which focuses on promoting more feminine models of business engagement. These models include the concept that collaboration can supersede competition, especially when using social media and that new media can be used to grow awareness around causes that are important to women.

The “What the World Needs Next Tour” is for women of all ages, sizes, backgrounds and professions who have a desire to re-vision the world and then learn how to use social media to share their messages. With songs donated for each video, the primary purpose of the tour is to capture the world vision and powerful energy of the hub’s members —many of whom are business owners and community leaders.

“We are at cross-roads in just about every area of life in our world, and women often feel there is nothing they can do to change it,” notes Rice, an internationally published author. “That may have been true a few years ago, but the Internet has changed everything. Used in community, we can put immense power behind our voices.”

The “What the World Needs Next Tour” kicks off May 7 & 8 in the Baltimore/DC area.

Next, the tour heads to New York City the weekend of June 18 & 19.  Additional tour stops include Nashville, New England, Central Florida and Los Angeles with new cities being added as the tour gathers momentum.

Top musicians have generously gifted their songs to the tour to create the videos which will feature all the women at the event and their thoughts on what the world needs next.  Musicians include Jana Stanfield, who has been seen on Oprah and the movie 8 Seconds; Emmy-winning songwriter, Faith Rivera, who has worked with Brian McKnight and Luther Vandross; and Grammy nominee Karen Taylor-Good.  The music video from each tour stop will be posted on You Tube and distributed through the Awesome Women Hub Facebook page and other social media outlets.

Hi Carla.

Considering how much change in the mid-East that the Internet has made possible, this just might actually accomplish something good.

Thanks for the info!

Hugs,
