Can male obesity lead to becoming infertile?
A new report just released has linked obesity in men to a reduced sperm quality. Male sperm was found in obese men to be lower in numbers but also sperm that were unable to swim in the proper direction.
Although the University of Leipzig (Germany) study showed that of the 2,000 men in the study, the obese men had lower sperm counts and less mobile sperm. Further studies need to be done, according to the University; however, the researchers believe that obese men also have imbalanced hormone levels caused by the increased levels of fat. The estrogen level proportionally higher while testerone levels below normal levels.
Drinking Pomegranate juice daily is showing that it may improve the health and mobility of sperm according to a research at Firat University in Turkey. According to the study done with rats, there was a decrease in carbonyl malondialdeyde (MDA) in the sperms. The study states that sperm cells' that have a high concentration of polyunsaturated fats makes them susceptible to damage from MDA. In layman's terms, the rats that drank the pomegranate juice showed increase in sperm cell density, concentration, motility and a longer sperm cell life.
Pomegranate juice has a high concentration of antioxidants and has been touted for its benefits on heart health, cancer prevention and slowing the cartiage loss in arthritis.
