It is important to consult with your health care provider before using an herbal remedies internally to ensure they will not interact with any other medication that you are currently taking.

Essential Oils

Essential oils can ease joint pain and external inflammation. It is simple to make an all natural rub down. Take a small jar of petroleum jelly and scoop out one tablespoon. Add 20 drops of both lemon essential oil and sandalwood essential oil. Mix the oil well with the jelly. This rub mixture can be used as often as necessary to help with sore joints.

Liver and Kidney Health

Some herbalists believe that one remedy that may help those who suffer with arthritis is liver and kidney health. These organs help the body eliminate waste. Improving their function may lead to reduced symptoms. Try this anti-arthritis tea blend at home. Boil one teaspoon each of dried burdock root and dried dandelion root in three cups of water for five minutes. Strain it and sip it throughout the day. If it is too bitter, add a touch of honey to sweeten.

Cayenne Pepper

Burn up the pain with cayenne pepper. Another rub that can be made using the petroleum jelly is for one tablespoon of jelly add one teaspoon of the cayenne pepper and mix well. Rub it into the joint that is aching and it may actually eliminate the pain. Why? Cayenne has two different compound chemicals in it. Capsaicin releases the endorphins in your body and salicylate is an aspirin like chemical compound. Word of caution - make sure to thoroughly wash your hands after using the rub to ensure you do not get it into your eyes.
